Sustainability

The construction of the DOME Theatre has a very low carbon footprint. In contrast, a traditional bricks & mortar theatre which requires thousands of tonnes of concrete to make up the walls with a massive environmental impact, none of which is recyclable.

The venue will require a minimal amount of concrete and the entire tent structure (material and metalwork) is 100% recyclable at the end of its life.

In addition, the DOME Theatre is designed & operated to take advantage of green technology. For example, the washrooms will only use 0.8 litres per flush instead of 6 litres in a conventional gravity-fed toilet. They will also use ‘grey’ water, thereby further helping to reduce water consumption & waste management.

High-tech LED lighting, smart heating system, natural cooling/ventilation design & an operational model mean 99% of the building is only powered up when it is occupied (rather than traditional theatre where you must leave the heating/cooling and power on 24/7).
